Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
If you just browse
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages help people. It sets cookies and records things like the pages you view, your approximate location (city level), device and browser. We don't use it to identify you. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes basic request data (such as IP address) to serve and protect the site.
Advertising and partners
WreckHunt is free to use. It may show advertising, sponsored placements or partner offers. When it does, partners may use cookies and similar technology to show and measure them, and we will update this page and offer any choices the law requires before that starts.
Saved places are kept only in your own browser on your device. We never see them.
If you write a review
We store your rating, review, the name you choose to show, the month you visited and your email. The review and name are published once approved; your email is never shown or shared. We use it only to stop duplicate or fake reviews and to contact you about your review. Rejected reviews are deleted after a year.
If you contact us or send a correction
We store your name, email, message and, for corrections, the page and your role, to reply and to check the change. Closed messages are deleted after two years.
Spam protection
To stop abuse, forms use a one-time token and we count submissions per network. The network address is stored only as a one-way code and deleted after 90 days.
Business information
Listings show information about businesses from their public listings, their own websites, public state registers and EPA records. We never publish names of staff, owners or customers from reviews, or personal names from state registers.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your name, email or anything you send us through a form.
- Publish your email address.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. You can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to remove a review you wrote, through our contact page. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information where it applies.
Children
WreckHunt is not meant for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date below.
